The Eyes of Faith – KCRC Online Service for August 9, 2020.

Clearly what set David apart from King Saul and every other Israelite soldier was not his size, strength, or military experience…it was his vision.  Where the Israelites saw nothing but the power of a taunting giant, David saw a God who exposed the lie of Goliath’s bravado.  It took David’s vision to rescue Israel from 40 days of unnecessary fear and intimidation.  Satan has so many tactics to try and convince us to live in fear–he does not want a bold and courageous church. The basis of Christian courage is being able to see our lives in light of Jesus’ victory over everything that makes us afraid.

We welcome Rev. Craig Hoekema as he takes us into the well known story of David and Goliath, and shares some not so known insights…..you are invited to grab your bibles and open them to 1 Samuel 17:19-49, we hope you will join us.

In our walk as apprentices of Jesus, its not always easy to be salt and light to our fragile hurting world. How do we walk in truth and love?

In this book John encourages believers to commit to the truth with much love in their hearts. There is a sermon study guide available this week. Blessed Are The Peacemakers: KCRC Online Service for July 26, 2020.

What is Shalom? Rev. Neil Plantinga gives this definition: “Shalom is much more than peace of mind or the ceasefire of enemies, it is described as universal wholeness and delight, and reigning over all is the earth’s Creator and Savior who opens doors and opens hearts and welcomes all of us as children of God.” Wow!

The theme of our service this week is Peace, what the prophets called Shalom. Rev. Bernie Bakker is sharing God’s word from the text of Matthew 5:9: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called Children of God.

As Christ followers we are called to be peacemakers and to work at reconciliation and restoration….which may be costly. Grab your bibles we also will be studying 2 Corinthians 5: 11-21, we hope you can join us.

All Things: KCRC Online Service for July 5, 2020.

The Heidelberg Catechism makes the audacious claim that all things (not just ‘good’ things) come to us from God’s Fatherly hand (Q&A 27)…which includes COVID-19.  The catechism’s confidence is grounded in the promises of scripture found in places like Romans 8:28.  Paul’s famous promise is not that everything that happens to us in life is good.  He writes these verses precisely because so much of what we experience in life can be downright heartbreaking and evil. Rather, what Paul promises is that God is so wise .and so sovereign that He will turn even the truly terrible things in our lives and in this world toward the good of making us into the likeness of his son Jesus Christ.
